PREHISTORIC BEGINNINGS .
Prehistoric man
is easily imagined as seated about the campfire, imagining and contemplating the mysteries of his or her world in the flames.
He may then act his picture thoughts out in his dreams, or even realize them in his daytime activities.
We may safely assume that he rested his bare bottom on
a rock near the fire every night during the winter months, and that this continued unchanged for one hundred thousand
years.
In fact, the whole group would necessarily encircle the
campfire. The fire became the focal point of their attention through evening into early night. They would all fall
asleep by the fireside. Remains of these prehistoric campfire sites are buried in the earth beneath your feet.
Are we learning yet?

This interchange of Day with
Night is fixed in Space by the rotation of the Earth. All creatures who depend on the light of the sun for vision, or on its
heat for life, heed its changes. They must retire to a place of safety at sunset... for now the night stalkers appear-- the
huntress and hunters of the Night. In the shadows, lurks death. That is another reason why primitives huddle together in the light of the fire.

Hundreds of millions of other kinds of creatures also
become inactive at night, finding their own kind of solace in sleep, presumably contemplating their own picture thoughts for millions of centuries before
anything we could call 'man' first appeared on Earth. Is all that lost forever
in death? From the perspective of science, yes, it is lost. Only changes in the physical world continue beyond death.
That is the beauty --and profound sadness-- of the science of evolution.
The lesson here is that this
fantasy reality is far greater than commonly supposed, for it derives from billions of beings over millions
of centuries. It is a vast field of possibilities we can explore in addition to the earth, air, fire, and water explored
in the witchcraft or magic of conventional history.
Did you expect anything less? This is, after all... after
so long a waiting...
